Trainee Inspector Program

Trainee Inspector Program

This Skills Development project started early in 2017 with 20 interns. The aim of the project was to expose youth from black communities to the quality auditor profession.

Trainee Inspector Program

SAIA’s main contractor, Waidler, identified the need to get the internship certified by MERSETA as a qualification. This led to the request of extending the program, where 14 of the 20 employed students continued with the extension of the program to obtain a formal certification. It was further identified that the students lacked the much-required driving skills. Therefore, SAIA and Waidler came up with a programme that saw all interns obtaining a drivers’ license or upgrading their driving skills.

The program has not only contributed to youth unemployment but has also enhanced the scarce skills of black auditors within the automotive sector. A certification ceremony was held to award the 14 students who completed the program successfully, 57% of the students completed the program as competent. We are certain that the SAIA MBR Inspector trainee program has had a great impact on the students and will be beneficial to their future endeavours.
