Fire Management
SAIA has been working closely with the Fire Protection Association of South Africa (FPASA) in the development of the Fire Strategy Project (InFIRes). This is an extremely important focus area for the industry as its literally takes a spark to cause a fire that can consume billions worth of properties and reduce them to ashes if not controlled on time.

It is for this reason that the association is constantly exploring fire prevention and management methods to mitigate any possible loses as a result of fire. The Fire Protection Association of Southern Africa [Agency] is a non-life insurance industry-controlled organisation which provides education services on fire risk management - to the public and insurers. It promotes fire risk management practices and represents SAIA at technical forums such as the SABS and the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). The Agency is also a member of the National Disaster Management Committee and interacts with various municipalities as well as provides some (limited) free training of fire risk management to small municipalities.
