Job Purpose

To act as a representative of the short-term insurance industry association on matters related to industry sustainability. To successfully deliver on the Insurance Risks Strategy, related to all business classes and areas, by providing professional skills and knowledge to the SAIA and its members. Responsible for own work output and performance success against the strategy. Identifies risks and develops processes to manage the risks effectively.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft, implement, monitor and report on the Insurance Risks Strategy
  • Identify risks facing the industry and reporting on those risks
  • Identifying and proposing solutions to any risks and/or challenges at industry level
  • Identify key stakeholders in the industry and form business relationships that directly impact the success of projects
  • Successfully negotiate solutions with strategic partners
  • Get member buy-in for industry projects
  • Developing business cases and business plans for industry projects
  • Implement industry projects
  • Have insight into industry developments (legislative, policy changes)
  • Assist in the development of forums / workgroups that will deliver on the SAIA business objectives
  • Compile board reports / papers, project status reports and writes for the SAIA Bulletin and Annual Review
  • Represents the SAIA at meetings
  • Represents SAIA and the industry to the media (print, radio, television)
  • Provide though leadership to the industry on the relevant industry initiatives
  • Participates at any SAIA meetings as and when identified
  • Will be required to participate in employee relations matters (training, guidance and counselling) or direct or indirect reports

Performance Standards

  • Together with the above the successful candidate will be required to sign a more detailed performance agreement upon commencing employment as well as the SAIA internal code of conduct and any other related policies governing the SAIA.

Must have a passion for the insurance industry and the South African Business World at large, because SAIA is about making a difference that will help grow and develop the South African economy.
