Consumer Education Update

Next of Next week TV Series

Following a short break of season three of the SAIA financial literacy comedy series, Next of Next Week, the series began airing on Friday, 6 January 2017 at 17:30 on etv.

Broadcast dates of the six-week episode series are as follows:

Episode 2 – Friday,13 January 2017 at 17h30
Episode 3 – Friday, 20 January 2017 at 17h30
Episode 4 – Friday 27 January 2017 at 17h30
Episode 5 – Friday, 3 February 2017 at 17h30
Episode 6 – Friday, 10 February 2017 at 17h30

Industrial Theatre

The Industrial Theatre Project, which took place in various malls across the country at the end of 2016, was well received by audiences. The content and humour in the segments helped audiences to understand short-term insurance products and services better. Due to the Industrial Theatre project being well received, it will be expanded in 2017.

Managing My Finances project

The Managing My Finances project has changed from Maths Literacy to Technical Maths in 2017.This fits in with the requirement that training should focus on beneficiaries who will within a short period of time become economically active. For 2017, Managing My Finances will also be extended to tertiary education, focusing on first-year students.

Consumer Education Website

Knowyourinsurance.co.za has been registered as the primary domain name for the SAIA Consumer Education website. The website will be formally launched within the first half of 2017.

SAIA Consumer Education Brochure

The updated SAIA Consumer Education brochures, which were rewritten with the help of the Actuaries Without Frontiers (“AWF”), are now available. The brochures include information on the following insurance policies:

  • Motor
  • Household 
  • Travel
  • Personal Accident and Liability Risks 
  • Homeowners

The brochures have been uploaded on the SAIA website (www.saia.co.za) and will also be available on the consumer education website, knowyourinsurance.co.za once it is up and running.

Financial Sector Code update
The Financial Sector Code (FSC) has not yet been gazetted due to ongoing discussions with the Department of Trade and Industry (Dti) in order to resolve outstanding issues.
